World Chagas Disease Day

Increase investments in capacity and resources towards prevention , diagnosis, management, control, surveillance and screening, starting at primary healthcare level. Be aware that risk of infection is not limited to areas where bugs are found – transmission can also occur by transfusion of blood and blood products, organ transplantation, congenital routes, oral/foodborne routes and laboratory accident. Include Chagas disease in policies related to migration and health.

More research is needed on quality diagnostics and medicines , and on cost-effective interventions for vector control, hygiene and food safety. Get involved the World Chagas Diseases Day Campaign!

On April 14th,  for the observance of the  World Chagas Disease Day , member organizations of the Global Chagas Coalition are sharing and encouraging the adoption of six commitments to their goal of doing more to help eliminate this disease as a public health problem : More access to comprehensive care. More investment in Research & Development (R&D). More support for surveillance, control, and monitoring of cases. More training and awareness-raising for healthcare personnel and communities at risk. More strengthening of health systems to ensure that care pathways are fully implemented and that affected people are integrated.
